I met this person on okcupid. He went by the user name lovingyou1566 and then sincerheartluv. We communicated by email and phone calls for about two months. After the first two of communication, he said he had been awarded a project contract in Liverpool, England. After a couple of weeks in Liverpool, he started running into problems. First he lost his wallet and then he said that his equipment had arrived for his project, but he was unable to get his equipment out due to the fact that it went over what his contract budget would allow. He started asking me for money to help him with retrieving his equipment from customs. At first he wanted $30,000.00. I told him NO. Then as each week went by, he would ask for less. The final request was $3000.00. Needless to say, I did not give him any money, and he stopped emailing me. I was also contacted by another woman who had also been dealing with this Michael Schwab from a different dating site. He also tried to scam her for large amounts of money. He used a different photo than the one site that I met him on. i want you ladies to know that this guy is very good at what he does. I don't want to see a woman being taken advantage of by these online dating scammers. I also want to add that he copied all his love letters to me from Each email sent me was new and titled in the subject line. (The titles were the exact titles of the love letters he copied from Ladies, he goes by the name of Michael Schwab, he says he is originally from Iowa. He says he owns a Pipeline Engineering business called Revolution Engineering, Iowa. Please beware.

A freind of mine was being 'romanced' by Mike Carausu when she found this site. These are the pictures he sent her. She shared them with me along with the 'romance novel' emails that match the words quoted on this site.

Ladies, please be careful regarding pictures that you sent to this scammer. He found out that I reported him on this site, and now he has put me on this site as a female scammer. He posted photographs of me, and now when someone trys to look me up, they are going to find this false report about me. I am planniong to contact Delphi to get my photo and name taken off of here, but I don't know how successful I will be. This man is a creep!

The thread is deleted, please block that scammer in every way! delete your emailaddres so this scammer can not contact you again and he can also give your emailaddress to other scammers too.. Scammers threats when they do not get what they want, often harmless threats but very uncomfortable for victims, i saw an posting in this thread that these scammers are probably operating out of Malaysia.Nigerian scammers gets student visa in Malaysia and scams women from there especially women from Philippines,Singapoore and Thailand. Please read my article how you recognize scammers ,link below

Thank you to the person who started writing about Michael Schwab as I knew him. Unfortunately for me, the damange had already been done. But because of this website and the report, I had the courage to report this person to the Secret Service. They have all my information. I have been notified that the accounts where I deposited the money were investigated. The funds that were deposited by me and seven other people in the account were wired to Nigeria. There was a passport copy that I was given and that passport was a fraud per Secret Service. Not only was the picture a fraud but the information on the passport was also not legitimate. The phone number I used to call him in Liverpool was a disposable phone which can be purchased and used anywhere. The IP address of the emails I received was rerouted via other servers so Nigeria connection wss not detected immediately. The apartment in San Jose was checked and no one stayed at that place under his name for the past three years. I was also contacted by a Standard Chartered Bank on the pretext of sending the money owed to me and that was also a hoax. The web address was not that used by the UK bank. I was informed that these people sit in a room with the computers and all day long they are trying to connect with people on the dating websites. More than one person was involved since I talked to a bank person, and project manager and Michael himself. This has been a very expensive learning experience. I just know I feel supported by all of you who have written in. I know I am not alone. I want to let you know that while the scam was operating, everything seemed plausable but unbelievable. How could one person have so many problems and all involving money. How can someone with his work experience not be prepared for all the problems he ran into. All these questions came to mind, You have to know about scams and how deep and real they can be to be thinking differently. It will be something I will be thinking about a long time. Because of the first post, I was able to get out of the old mindset and think differently and start the process of investigating the situation. Secret Service was immensely helpful in explaining what happened and to give facts which makes accepting what happened just a little easier. I am very grateful for them for looking into all the information I gave them and they followed the money which exposed the location as Nigeria.
I hope this information helps others. You can report the scammers to the Secret Service.

I too have fallen victim to Mike Carausu. Needless to say, I am devastated. Not only was I foolish enough to send money, but it is more my confidence that has been shaken to the very core. I was dumbfounded when I found this site - and saw what had been written to me in several other emails. I had 'googled' him at the beginning and found the information on the Engineering Co. in North Dakota, but nothing else. And yes, the letters read like a romantic novel and I fell quickly and completely. When the second request came for money, I put his name into a Yahoo search and this is where I landed. I can't remember if I did a Yahoo search at the beginning. Now I am trying to figure out where I go from here - where to I report this information? Will it do any good to report? I feel so very foolish I'm not sure I can gather the courage to talk to the authorities. Any advice or words of wisdom would be appreciated. If you have been a victim of this scam - I feel your pain and I wish you well.

According to the previous conversation, contacting Secret Service in your town is what needs to be done and it is a good idea to refer Secret Service also to this site. You may not get your money back but going forward people will be able to get this information sooner. The case will stay open until he is caught. This is what my friend who is a retired FBI agent recommends The more information you provide the sooner he will be stopped. Please include what hasn't been said so far so the case history keeps building. Even those new to dating websites will benefit from this.

Thank you for the advice regarding the secret service. The crime has been reported to the FBI Internet Crime Control Center as well. The pictures I was sent by him after he contacted me on were the once at the beginning of this post. There also was a different picture on that I no longer have access to as his account is no longer active, but it appears to be the same person at the beginning of the post taken on a web cam. To make a long story short, he used the Romania, widow (wife and son killed in a car crash) pipeline engineer, oil rig in Liverpool Bay can't get my equipment, lost my wallet story with me as well. I also had a UK # as well as the cell phone # 408-912-8441. His latest plea for money to the tune of about $31,000 is to assist with the environmental clean up at the project site. I will be filing a complaint with anyone and everyone possible. Thank you to all who have contributed to this post.

Yep, that picture would be of the Mike Carausu that I received from the dating sight where I met him. I have contacted them and they say they have blocked his membership. Don't know if I believe that or not. Thanks to whoever posted this picture.

I realize that the dating sites are not geared to track these IP addresses for 'real' user ID plus new free e-mail equals new setup on same dating site. For me, I feel the 'solution' lies in requiring proof of existence before handing out any personal info.....always communicate via the dating site, and don't move to personal e-mail communication until you know the person is real and don't have to lie about your just have to remain within the privacy afforded by on-site messages until you are assured of your safety.....step up your awareness, and question any information that doesn't add up or make sense.....
